The region has strong historic and cultural ties to Scotland, Nova Scotia meaning "New Scotland." Traditional music is very popular and it is not uncommon to find local ceilidhs in most small communities, and families that still come together to play traditional fiddle or pipe music during evenings.
Nova Scotia for instance is home to the Celtic Colours festival on Cape Breton Island, one of the largest celtic music festivals in the world. Just respectfully chiming in here! Many parts of Canada are still quite culturally connected to the celtic world in music, folklore, and even accents.
